Acceptance of terms
These Terms govern your use of the official Rune website, download services and Rune Launcher application.
By downloading, installing or using Rune Launcher, you agree to these Terms.
Your use of third-party services through Rune may also be subject to the terms and policies of those providers.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use Rune Launcher.
Description of Rune
Rune is an independent desktop Minecraft launcher developed under the SeptyStudios name. It helps users organize supported accounts, Minecraft installations, versions, mod loaders, mods, skins, playtime and related local files. Features can differ by release and may change over time.
Eligibility
You must be able to enter into these terms under the law that applies to you. If you are below the relevant age, use Rune only with the permission and supervision required from a parent or legal guardian.
Minecraft ownership and account responsibility
You are responsible for having the rights, licenses and accounts required for Minecraft and any service you access. Rune does not grant ownership of Minecraft or access to premium-only services.
Keep account sessions and devices secure. Activity performed through an account or profile you control remains your responsibility.
Microsoft account authentication
Rune does not request or store your Microsoft password. Microsoft authentication is completed through Microsoft services. Your use of Microsoft authentication, Minecraft services and account information is also governed by Microsoft's terms and policies.
Account use
You must not use a profile to impersonate another person, bypass ownership requirements or misrepresent account status. Rune does not grant access to premium services without the account rights those services require.
Acceptable use
Use Rune only for lawful purposes and in accordance with the terms, licenses and rules that apply to Minecraft, connected accounts, servers, mods and other third-party content.
Legitimate testing, reviews, streaming, content creation and compatible server administration are allowed when they otherwise comply with those requirements. Respect intellectual property, mod licenses and the technical limits of systems you connect to.
Prohibited use
- Do not use Rune to gain unauthorized access to accounts, devices, servers or premium services.
- Do not distribute malware, harmful files or intentionally deceptive packages through Rune-related channels.
- Do not interfere with the website, update service, downloads or another user's operation of Rune.
- Do not misrepresent Rune as an official Mojang or Microsoft product.
Mods and third-party content
Mods are provided by third parties. Rune does not own third-party mods and does not guarantee their compatibility, safety, availability or continued support. Review mod sources and licenses before installing them.
Mods can change game behavior or stability. Rune may display or retrieve metadata from external services, but users remain responsible for the files they choose and the permissions required to use them.
User files and local installations
Rune creates or manages files on the user's device as part of installation and mod workflows. Maintain backups of worlds, configuration and other important data. Check game directories before deleting an installation or clearing local Rune data.
Software updates
Rune may check for and offer software updates. Updates may fix defects, change compatibility, add or remove features or adjust installation data. Read release notes where available and keep backups before significant changes.
Availability
Rune may change, and features may be added or removed. Servers, authentication systems, mod sources, download providers or other services may be unavailable. Downloads may be replaced or withdrawn. Continued operation is not guaranteed indefinitely.
External services
Microsoft, Minecraft services, Discord, mod sources, download hosts and other external services operate independently. Their own terms apply, and Rune is not responsible for their policies, decisions, outages or content.
Intellectual property and license
Rune's original branding, website content, interface assets and official project materials are owned by the Rune project operator or its contributors, as applicable.
Subject to these Terms and any license distributed with the software, users are granted a limited, non-exclusive right to install and use the official Rune Launcher release for lawful purposes.
Third-party libraries and components remain governed by their respective licenses.
Minecraft, Microsoft, Mojang, third-party mods, skins, logos and other external content remain the property of their respective rights holders.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of Rune or third-party content.
Nothing in these Terms overrides rights granted under an open-source or third-party license included with Rune.
Minecraft and Microsoft disclaimer
Rune Launcher is an independent project developed by SeptyStudios and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
Disclaimers
Rune is provided on an "as available" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law. We do not promise that every Minecraft version, mod, account, server or third-party service will work without interruption or error. Nothing on the website is a guarantee of a particular result.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rune's operator and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss resulting from the use or inability to use Rune, third-party services, mods or user-managed local files.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights, fraud or intentional misconduct.
Users remain responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of worlds, configurations and other important files.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using Rune at any time.
We may restrict access to official download infrastructure, support channels or other Rune-operated online services when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks, legal obligations or serious violations of these Terms.
This section does not override rights granted under any separate software or open-source license included with Rune.
Changes to the terms
We may update these Terms when Rune's features, services or legal obligations change.
The effective date and last updated date will be revised when a new version is published.
Where a change materially affects users' rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice through the website, launcher or another appropriate channel.
If you do not agree to revised Terms, you should stop using Rune and its official online services.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania.
If you use Rune as a consumer, this choice of law does not remove any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under the laws of your country of residence.
Any dispute will be handled by the competent courts determined under applicable law.
